Eyebrow Microblading

Eyebrows are an important part of the facial care and makeup processes, and many people spend extensive amounts of time making their eyebrows look perfect every single day. But, what if you could just wake up with perfectly sculpted brows? Well, now you can with microblading!

What is Microblading?

Microblading is simply the process of tattooing on the eyebrows. Microblading should only be done by a trained professional, like those here at Watt Plastic Surgery & Med Spa. Microblading is perfect for those with thin brows who want to spend less time each day sculpting their brows manually with liners and pencils.

What Can I Expect During a Microblading Session?

During your microblading session, you and your aesthetician will work together to select a brow pigment and shape that matches your complexion and desired results. Trust your aesthetician to guide you in this process. After deciding on a color and shape, a topical numbing cream will be applied to your brow area, and the tattoo process will begin. Small, hair-like strokes will flawlessly fill in thinning or bare areas of the eyebrow, leaving you with ample, structured eyebrows that look gorgeously natural and don’t take up any of your valuable morning time.

Is Eyebrow Microblading Painful?

Since microblading requires tattooing on the facial skin, which can be quite sensitive, most patients will feel anything from a mildly uncomfortable sensation to moderate pain. We use an anesthetic gel during the procedure to minimize this discomfort. However, the convenience and results you get with microblading make any bother well worth it.

What About Recovery Time?

Your brows will be sensitive and swollen after microblading. Avoid picking or rubbing the area, as this will promote irritation and infection. And, definitely avoid picking at any scabs.

Your aesthetician will instruct you about aftercare based on your specific skin needs. Follow their instructions carefully for the best results. Most people return to their normal activities on the same day as the procedure.

During the next 3-6 weeks after your microblading session, the tattoos will lighten 30-50%. Because of this, a touch-up session is suggested 6-8 weeks after the procedure, and annual touch-ups are recommended after that.

Am I a Good Candidate for Microblading?

Microblading is generally considered safe for everyone, but you should avoid microblading treatments if you have:

  • Very large pores
  • Very oily skin
  • Permanent makeup already
  • Used retinoids in the past 4-6 weeks
  • Done a deep chemical or laser peel within the past 6 weeks
  • Had Botox within the past 2 weeks
  • A medical condition that requires a prescription for blood thinners

Individuals with the following conditions must also be careful when getting microblading services. Your aesthetician may want an okay to do the procedure from your primary care physician. Conditions that should be considered before microblading include:

  • Diabetes
  • Thyroid disease
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Liver disease
  • High risk of infection
  • Slow healing
  • Currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
  • Pregnant or nursing
  • On antibiotics
  • Keloid scars
